Hello! Pretty soon, I will be looking for a used car. My budget is 15k. I want a car that is fun-to-drive, but also a car that is practical, reliable, and not too expensive to maintain. It should handle corners well and be fast. It should hold all of my gear during long trips. I also live in a snowy climate and would like this to be a daily driver. One of the cars I am interested in is the Ford Fiesta ST (not the regular Fiesta with the garbage dual clutch transmission). Are these cars reliable in the long run? Are there any common problems that I should look out for? What are your overall thoughts on the Fiesta ST? Thank you!
If you’re looking to only keep this car up till 100k and it’s a manual should be ok. If you’re looking for any kind of longevity no way. The ecoboost motor they put in those cars are terrible and do not hold up.
I would add that if you buy this vehicle. Install an oil catch can right away so you reduce carbon build up on the valves.
Are these cars reliable in the long run?
If long run means a few years, it might be reliable enough.
If long run means more than 100k miles, it might fall apart.
The worst part is the engine which is a tiny 1.6 ecoboost GDI 4 cylinder.
The msrp was around 21k so if your paying 15k for a used one it better not have too many miles on it.
