Thoughts on paint protection

I was thinking of doing paint protection on my white civic (2021 sedan). Was wondering if anyone has any experience with paint protection and what are your thoughts on it? Also, if any positive experience is there a specific type you would suggest?

dry and shade

oh yeah and white is a fantastic color. It looks great (until the rust starts showing through from the back)

Why would rusts start showing? Is there any specific issues with Honda's white paint?

no no. I was sort of joking. You don't have to worry about that for a long time.
I had a white vehicle rust through after about 14 years, but it had a hard life.

just try not to hit anything. Keep it out of the sun as much as possible, and touch it up if it gets scratched or chipped. White is very easy to blend in.

Oh okay. It reminded me of the issues some people had with their Honda car paints peeling off/fading so thought the white color might be having this problem too.

Yup you definitely want to avoid problem years. GM had problems with white too.
But I guess with a new model you won't know.

I don't bother on my cars, even my more expensive collector cars, and I'm a car guy through and through.

It's a car. They get driven, chips happen. That's why they make touch up paint. And you can buy A LOT of $10 touch up paint tubes for the price of ceramic coating a car.

In your case, it is a Civic and it is white. Not saying it isn't special to you, but to the rest of the world it is a commuter car expected to take bumps and bruises. And don't expect to see any additional money on trade or private sale at the other end either.

I'm not a fan, in case you couldn't tell. I think those accessories are just for people who want to say, "OH I got my car ceramic coated" in conversations and who have more money than sense.

I am not looking for it to add value to my car and I just want to do it to avoid too much bruises and scratches given how hard it is to find exact matching paint (just had this experience with a rim and couldn't even find the exact matching shiny black). Also, not looking to show off with it in front of people as that is the very last thing that would be on my mind if it would even be something I would care about; I want to do it because of my own preferences and keeping my car clean so not sure if saying anyone who does something like this doesn't have senses is right.

@FJCruiser2014, I didn't mean for you to take my opinion personally. I was just giving my thoughts on it and I definitely was not addressing you specifically but just speaking in general terms. At the end of the day, it's your car...you can do whatever you want to it as your opinion is the only one that actually matters. I can only speak from my experiences on the subject and I simply don't believe that paint correction services are a good investment in a vehicle. But again, that is my thoughts on it, which you asked for in your post.

Yes was asking for thoughts on it based on personal experiences with paint protection. I just don't agree with seeing people who do paint protection or any other types of such accessories as people who have too much money and not enough senses. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.

Your welcome. And again, I respect your opinion as well. For what it is worth, I have a lot of professional experience with ceramic coating and it seems like most people who do it like the end result, but that's about all I can give you on it. Whatever you decide, I hope it works out.

If you are living in some sort of hill billy area where it is all sand and stone and bugs dying on your windscreen, forget about it. If you got extra cash, laminating the whole car might be worth looking at. Cars get damage over the years and by the 10th year, some people get bored of it and change a new car anyway. Its white color so hair line scratch wouldnt be seen easily. I suggest by the 5th year of owning your vehicle, just get some meguiars wax, hand wax it with a cloth. it puts a new shine on it. Good as new.
