Thoughts on the older VW Jetta

Hey scotty. I've seen a few of your videos on VW's and it's clear your not a fan, but what do you think about the mk5 Jettas (2005-2009) with a manual transmission? I recently bought a 2009 used for $3k with 145k miles on it. The previous owner seemed to take good care of it and the car also had a clutch and flywheel replaced along with the serpentine belts and tensioner / pulleys. I grew up around Jettas since my dad always owned one and he's had pretty good luck with the standard transmission models. The one he currently owns is a 2013 manual 6-speed with nearly 200k miles and it's still running good for him.

Also, is this the correct source where you will also answer these questions in your videos? I have asked a few by now but never really saw them answered in videos and thought it'd be cool if you could on one of your next ones.

Is it a diesel? If so, could be a decent car that can last with regular maintenance (get it checked out first)

Petrol? Ehh... Get a reputable VW mechanic to check it out.

Made in Brazil or Mexico or whatever?

Junk. Worst build quality I've ever seen. Worse than GM even.

They're all made in Mexico for Europe and North America

I think the early 2000’s Golf was Brazil.
