tigershark 2.4 oil consumption

Scotty,

Just purchased a new 2020 Jeep Renegade with the 2.4 tigershark engine and a 9 speed trans.  Now I am reading a lot of complaints to FCA about customers having units that use as much as a qt. of oil in a thousand miles.  FCA tells them that is normal???????   They are rated to use 0w-20 synthetic oil.  I am concerned as I have never heard of anything like this before?   What is your opinion?  Thank you.

Many manufacturers are building their engines to use 0w-20 oil these days.

BUT - many manufacturers try to sleaze out of paying for warranty repairs on oil-burning engines.

Get a notebook for your glove compartment and write down notes on every oil change and oil add and the mileage, and save all your oil/oil-change and other maintenance receipts in the glove compartment. You will be prepared if you need to make a warranty claim - or if you just want to sell the car later, you'll have proof of consistent maintenance.
