Hello
A customer brought her car said the dealer told her to change the timing belt, transmission oil (manual transmission) and brake oil at 40.000 km ( about 25.000 miles), i thought they're just trying to rip her off, so I told her to check the manual, and indeed, the manual says that
Is that even logical?
The car is Chinese, Chery Tiggo 2, i checked online, I couldn't find anything about timing belt replacement intervals for those cars
You did a right thing to check the manual. The issue about Chinese cars is that you can not find information easily. Hopefully, your customer finds the manual.
She brought the manual with her and indeed, it says they should be replaced at 40.000 km, which i find very odd
It shows how cheaply these cars are made. I searched and it seems it also has an interference engine.
I guess she has no choice then.
Thanks bro
Oh she has a choice, she doesn't have to do the maintenance. I have known people that go that route and skipped getting the timing belt done. Some of those people got to spend a couple grand on fixing their engine after the timing belt decided quit it's job, and split!
But it's odd how a timing belt could only last for less than 30k miles!
