Hello, i bought a car in the summer a Volkswagen Polo 9n 2005 year 100500km - 62400miles and when it started raining a lot lately the backseats attracted a lot of water with the trunk (it had holes for drainage that didnt had rubber seals) so i fixed that, but my big problem is that the window switches and the central lock on the driver's door didn't function, well sometimes it did and other times it didn't, so when it is dried up it functions again, my question is how can i make my electric motor/switches last longer when its raining (i think rain/moisture got in the electrc motor from opening the door when entering and leaving the vehicle, OR possibly roling down a wet window and roling it up again to clean it) for that reason i have had to drive with closed windows for a whole month, i HATED driving in the car with no fresh air

Any advice is grately apreciated, i even removed the switches and glued some nylon on them to prevent water breaking hem

It appears that the motor itself is a sealed unit.  Perhaps your could coat the connections and open sections of the switch with some clear, silicone sealant to slow down the water.  You might also want to replace the rubber seals at the door where the window slides to help keep it dry.  Being that it is a 16 year old vehicle, the seals are probably hardened and cracked.

changing the window slides is a good idea, also gonna go a step further to install a moisture seal with plastic bells and a butyl ruber glue, i already sealed the switches tho 🙂 thank you
