Timing belt

Topic starter

I got a 1995 Toyota Camry LE with the 2.2 Liter cylinder engine with 175,000 miles on it. I've had it for a year now and was wondering about the timing belt. I know it was replaced once at 60,000 miles. I was just curious if I didn't change it could I be risking serious damage if it broke while driving it? Thanks Scotty keep up the good u do for everyone...

It's a non-interference engine so you should be okay

I would either get AAA or change it

They usually recommend changing them every 80,000 to 100,000 MI but occasionally they can last until 200,000 miles you can try to look at it or get a mechanic to inspect it and if it looks okay you can decide if you want to risk it

Why risk it? Even if you're okay if you break it, it always happens when you least expect it. Save up a few bucks and fix it properly.

Because I don't want to put a lot of money into a 25+ year old car

They run forever if you maintain the minimal maintenance they require.

It shouldn't be too tough a job on a 4-cylinder engine and the parts aren't terribly expensive.
