Timing belt replacement 2012 Chevy Cruze LT

Is it necessary to remove the valve cover to lock the camshafts from moving when replacing the timing belt on a 2012 Cruze LT. Or is it OK just locking the cam gears and flywheel after alignment of all timing marks are made. If it is necessary to remove valve cover should the gasket be replaced or is it OK to use the old one? The car has just under 89K miles.

Thanks.

I'd remove the cam shaft cover and I would also replace the gasket

Will do! Thank you.
