Hi Scotty,

is it true that I should change my timing chain on my 2005 mazda3 because I have 345k miles on it? I thought you don’t have ever worry about timing chains. My mazda3 runs like a clock, should I change it?
thanks ahead.

It depends on the engine design and how it's been maintained. Usually timing chains will make noise when they get loose. Some cars have a spec for tensioner extension that can be tested. I've run cars up to 400K miles without timing chain problems. However I'm not familiar with your engine. There have been some poorly-designed engines that wear out timing chains in as little as 25,000 miles.
