Scotty, I have 2004 Lincoln Town Car with 240K miles. Should I think about replacing the timing chains?

Are the chains clattering at startup? Is there sludge under your valve covers, indicating poor maintenance?
With few exceptions most timing chains are meant to last the life of the engine when properly maintained. However if the engine is poorly designed or oil changes have been neglected the chain could have excess wear, which can only be determined by examination.
This video shows how to get to the Ford 4.6 V8 timing chains, guides, and tensioners to check their condition. However if you're going to go this deep you might as well just replace those parts while in there:
