HI, QUESTION I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA FJ WITH 175,000KMS ON IT I'VE GOT THE P0016 CODE COMING ON, WE CHANGED THE SENSOR BUT THE SAME ISSUE, AS THE THE TEMPURATURE WARMS UP OUTSIDE(Live way up north in Timmins Ontario Canada) THE CODES SHOWS UP LESS FREQUENTLY, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD CHANGE/TRY BEFORE COMMITING TO THE CHANGE OF THE TIMING CHAIN?

Note regular oil changes since I've owned from 2010 at 76000kms

Thank you, Trevor

Check the ignition timing with a proper scanner to see if it's stable.  Did you use an OEM sensor?  What do you consider "regular" oil changes?

Usually under the mileage for the oil changes/ time wise when date said to change oil, as for the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid / Actuator  it is GATES, there was no sludge in the filter and old one was clean,

Also if I don't let the FJ idle first thing when start up and shift quickly into gear the engine light would come on, tried that this morning. so if I let it idle for 30 seconds then put into gear doesn't come on,  Suspicious......

These have a issues with stretch timing chains. Remove the timing chain tensioner cover plate located on the front cover and see if the tensioner is extended all the way out. If it is, the chain has streched and thing is off.
