I have a 2008 Ford Escape. I purchased a used with 147,000 miles on it. I recently noticed there are spots in my driveway that look like it has oil leaking. So I took it to the mechanic shop and I was told my timing cover gasket is leaking oil. Is this an expensive fix or is there something temporary I can do? Or is it even worth fixing? (I now have 151,000 miles on it). I drive about 50 miles total a day to work and back home (interstate driving).
Unfortunately, it is a pretty expensive repair. Another thing is your transmission which may be on its way out due to the mileage. Drive the car till the wheels fall off and then junk it.
I don’t know if it is an expensive repair. From the other comment, I am assuming it is.
I would make sure to top of the oil every now and then between oil changes. To make sure it is filled in between the appropriate levels.
