Hey Scotty, I purchased a used truck and the tires that are on it now are 255/65R18. The factory recommended tires are size 265/60R18. Why would someone go with a different size tire from factory and would it be easy to go back to factory size?

People do modifications all the time with various reasons. you should ask the previous owner why he did it.

If the previous owner didn't change to non-stock wheels, you can go back to the standard tire size. A wider tire could give you more traction, but most people do these mods to make themselves feel like they are cooler than everybody else (same with cold air intakes, loud exhausts, etc.)

Looks like the wheels are stock. Are the 265s a bigger tire?

They are 2% taller, and 4% wider. Not a big deal and I don't see why those can't work on your  truck.

You also haven't mentioned any reason why you couldn't use the factory size.
