Tires for Subaru AWD

G'Day

I drive a 2010 Forester AWD . I have had Bridgestone tires in the past. I was not completely happy with them they wear out fast and are a bit noisy on the road.

Can anyone recommend a good all weather tire that will wear better? I live in an area where i drive some dirt roads and the highway has some  black ice in winter,. Not much snow though.

Thanks.

that's asking a lot from a tire. To get good cold weather traction you need a softer rubber compound tire. Softer rubber wears quicker. You could get studded tires, but that would be noisier. Good traction on dirt roads means an open tread design. Open treads means louder on the highway. There's always a trade-off.

Agreed. The best tires, by far.

General Altimax RT43.

+1 for Michelin. Maybe something from the Cross Climate series.
We put Vredestein’s (from Tirerack via our Subaru dealer) before she spent the winter in Colorado. She says the grip on ice and snow was good. I just inspected them and wear looks fine, albeit just 1 winter so far.

My next set of tires will be cross climate 2.

Funny lookin tire , and road noise might be something, but the reviews have been uniformly positive, and quality is baked in the cake
