Towing cars with 2001 CRV

Aloha

Have a nice 01 crv with 175k miles, automatic

Service history showing regular oil and trans fluid changes

I have towed several cars weighing between 2-3k lbs recently short distances less than 30m each.

The last one weighed 4500lbs and was mainly down hill and some almost flat surface

The last one, the trans or something would almost feel like limp mode for a couple seconds, I would let off acceleration when I felt it and went away.

Anyways question is if my transmission is shifting fine now, does that mean no damage has been done? I won't tow anymore and would possibly like to keep it.

I thought since it has a tow hitch I could tow anything in the world no matter the size, just kidding

Well, vehicles are not made to be towed rolling down the road these days. That's why they have those landaws where they winch your car up on the back. Then the bed is picked up in the air and your car is just sitting there, not on the ground. It's hard to say if any damage was done in the short run. If a shifting okay now, but things do have a tendency of overheating. When you tow them with the wheels on the ground, the transmission can get over hot from spinning in neutral. It's not a good idea to tow things that way
