Hi I just fixed my van (161k miles) by changing 2 lower control arms and front axle left seal. This is the picture I took from the front passenger. Is this leakage of oil? Where does it come from? Yes. Find the source of the leak with a dye kit. From looking at your photo, it appears that the banjo fitting is leaking. Either tighten it up or replace the soft, crush washers used to seal the connection.
looks like it's coming from above the banjo fitting. It looks exactly like the same leak my 08 Highlander had. The front timing cover seal. Front timing cover seal oil leak plagues the 3.5L V6 from Toyota. Doesn't matter what model, they all do it; just do a search, you'll find plenty of examples. My friend's husband is a Sr. tech at a Toyota dealership. He said it's a big job and book time is 25 hours. Needless to say, I don't have the suv anymore, repair was more than it was worth.
