I want to buy a Land Cruiser, should I get the 2021 model with the outgoing 5.7 Liter V8 engine or should I get the 2022 the the new 3.5 Liter V6 turbo?
I have read that Toyota is planning to stop producing the Land Cruiser’s reliable 4.6 L and 5.7 L V8 engines as of 2022
I want a car that can last for years in the harsh weather of the middle east, I live in Kuwait and it can reach up-to 140 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade in summer, I need your advice
Turbo engines are under more strain to produce the same horsepower than the bigger normally aspirated engines. Non turbo engines always last longer and have less problems. Toyotas have always been reliable, and I’m sure that the new V6 will be as well, but as far as longevity, you can’t beat the V8.
If you need to get something get the tried and true 5.7 V8. The turbo V6 will be new and even for Toyota, will have growing pain issues, so for that engine, I would wait until the gremlins get worked out.
