I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with the v8 with 280000 miles on it. It runs perfect except for when I start it up cold every time a little puff of blue smoke comes out the tail pipe should I be worried about that or just keep on going with it?
Thats a lot of miles but unless it's smoking a lot I wouldn't worry about it. That could be caused by a few things but a tiny leak could cause that and unless you see something dripping on the ground or you see your engine oil is a milkshake color it's probably nothing. Just keep an eye on it and if its gets worse or especially if it starts smoking a lot then you might want to get it checked out
Blue smoke generally indicates oil. At that mileage it is almost a guarantee that the engine is warm and is burning/leaking oil into the combustion chamber. Cars can go for quite a long time burning oil but I would still start saving up for a new vehicle. Congrats on having a survivor!
