Toyota Avalon key fob

The wife or myself have lost one of the factory key fobs to our 2013 Avalon. Do the aftermarket fobs work as well as OEM or should I only purchase the OEM fob?

Contacted the local dealer and they quoted a price of $210 for a new fob and to program the fob. Do you think this price would include the cost of the laser cut key as well?

Keyless start/stop. So much for love ideas.

You should ask the dealer what is included in the quoted price, no one here will know what your dealer is charging for the $210. I've bought aftermarket fobs before for other vehicles (domestic, Honda & Toyota) and had local locksmith do the programming and key cutting. Was a lot less expensive and everything worked.

Just find a local locksmith.  Forget the dealer rip off.

If you don't have the keyless start stop option, you can buy an aftermarket keyfob from Amazon and follow this video to program it:

I think all Avalons have 4 button keyless fobs.

I saw some with separate remote.

My bad. I was thinking of the 2013 and newer only.

You are correct. This question is for the 2013. Thanks for the comment.

I bought 2 aftermarket fobs from KEY4.com for 55 each for Avalon's. I programmed them myself with my x-tool d8, took about a minute each. They work fine. I am pretty sure a fob from the dealer would include cutting the key, but just ask them. If you go the locksmith route as Doc suggests, make sure key cutting is in his price.

A local locksmith charges around $ 75 for a new fob. Programming included.

Forget the dealer.

Here's a novel idea, just use the key.
