Hi Scotty, I was looking for a gen 6 celica but they are quite expensive where I live so I was looking at a gen 7 celica. Is the 1.8L 140hp manual gen 7 Celica bad??? I know the one with 190 hp is but what about this one? Is the engine reliable? Will it break down if I buy one? Please help.

The 1zz engine is not very good when compared to other Toyota engines. From 00-02 they are known for having undersized piston rings and other manufacturing oddities. I had one and blew it up. Replaced it with a 2zz which was used on the Lotus Elise. The quality control of these engines, even though they are very similar to the 1zz engine, is MUCH better. Both are produced by Yamaha. I would avoid the 7th gen GT and buy a 7th gen GTS if you have to buy a 7th gen.

7 generation is bad, it is a yahama derived engine, that is why are cheaper.

Scotty explain it well in the video.
