My son (college student) is looking for a new car and narrowed it down to the Corolla Cross. However, we are undecided on AWD vs. FWD.
He lives in South Dakota. Is the better handling of the AWD worth the added expense (+$1,300) and the lower reliability and higher maintenance?
Or, should he just stick to the FWD (and keep it as simple as possible)?

I would stick with the FWD. Less to break and maintain. The FWD is almost as good as the AWD in bad driving conditions, IMO and experience, provided he takes it easy.
