Hey Scotty hope you’re having a good day! Im 16 and thinking on getting a 2006 toyota corolla as my first car! Im thinking if i should get that or use my family’s turbocharged Subaru Forester? What do you think Scotty?
If you’re getting the Forester for free, jump on it.
But if you have to pay for a vehicle, get the Corolla, hands down.
Just be sure to have it inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase, no matter which vehicle you end up with.

Corolla's a good 1st car. However; if you have full use of the family Subaru, I'd go that route. Main reason, it's a known vehicle so you know the history associated with it. But if you go for the used Corolla, have it checked out as others have already stated.
Get the turbo subaru if you can. I wouldn't even think of getting a cheap, old, slow toyota vehicle when i can get a nice subaru instead which is what most teens drive anyway.
