Just wondering if anyone uses aftermarket gear oil in their differentials and transfer cases. The Genuine Toyota fluid is very expensive (75W85 is expensive anyway, but the Toyota branded oil is crazy expensive) and just wanting to know what others might be using.

It would help if you gave us your make, model and year of the car you have.
Toyota doesn't produce gear oil. A different manufacturer produces the gear oil and Toyota slaps its name on it. Anything that meets the specifications described in the owner's manual is fine.
