Hi Scotty, Mike from New York I've been looking At buying a 2005-2008 Toyota Matrix most I see are AWD are they problematic and something I should stay away from? Or just try to find a good 2wd? Thanks Mike
Find a good 2WD if you don’t need to have AWD. Also, stay away from the model years that have oil burning issue.
Well the AWD models are hard to find and it is useful if you live in places where it gets cold and snowy. The Matrix is an excellent car, my neighbour has a 2007 Matrix and it runs like a clock and it's very practical. I would avoid 2009 and later because that's when they became kinda junky with excessive oil consumption and engines blowing up as a result and stay away from the 2003 model year since they had some engine and transmission problems here and there. Now they don't make them anymore since it was replaced by the Corolla Hatchback which is a good car too. Otherwise, the Matrix is a great car.
