I am looking to buy a manual transmission first generation Toyota Matrix. I have heard the 5-speed C59 transmission is prone to bearing failure and they are likely to fail at some points, regardless of the mileage. Is the transmission that bad? I have been searching for a 6-speed Matrix XRS but couldn't find a decent one.
I am looking to buy a car that is fun to drive (manual) and also practical.

They aren't that bad but anything wears out over time I had a customer with one of his one out but then again he had 200 something thousand miles on the car too
