Apparently on the prius there is an efficiency bar where under the half its EV and the upper half it uses the gas engine. What model years is the efficiency bar on the prius? All of them, certain generations, certain models?

3

I believe the energy bar started with the Gen 3 and up. So the 2010 model year and up. With the Gen 3, you have to toggle to get to that screen.

Gen 2 had a primitive indicator, which have really time MPG in digit or bar chart form.

So the gen 3 indicator was more refined, but it existed on gen 2?

Kinda. There is a live real time MPG bar. The higher the bar, the higher the MPG, the more eco. The lower the bar, the lower the MPG, and not so eco.

so the second gen has no bar that im talking about, the lower the bar it is in ev mode?

The Gen 2 does not have that exact bar. It does have real time MPG bar, which can be used similarly to the eco bar you speak of.

Eh so that would be a no go. I wanted to time it perfectly so it only uses EV under 20 mph, and some other fancy things. I essentially want to use wayne gerdes's knowledge to (hopefully) one day getting a Prius to 90 plus mpg average.
