Hi, I'm looking to purchase a used Rav 4 and was wondering what was the last year they had the best automatic transmission and great reliability. Not a fan of the CVT's. Either 4 or 6 cylinder.

I would say 2018 as it was the last year of the generation and had a venerable 6 speed automatic. I would skip years like 2013 and 2014 and Scotty put the 2016 model year as one of the best used SUVs out there. So I would focus on the 2016-2018 era.

For best reliability go with the 2013-2018 generation as it featured the I4 (no V6 this generation, whereas previous Gen had it) along with the true and tried 6-speed AT. Per link below go with later years in that generation if your budget allows:
