Hi,
I viewed a youtube video on how to correctly change the transmission fluid on sealed Toyota transmissions. I have a 2014 Toyota Venza XLE, 6 cylinder and it's not AWD.
The video shows a hack on how to get notified as to when the temperature on the tranny fluid reaches operating temperature so you can drain excess fluid from the tranny after you have refilled it and added a 1/2 extra to be drained later.
You jumper the ODB2 port from the top at position 4 to the bottom at position 5 with a piece of wire. Start up the engine and all the lights flash indicating the vehicle is in diagnostic mode, then cycle the shifter back and forth a few times to disperse the fluid.
At this point you are supposed to shift the tranny between Neutral and Drive until the drive light stays on steady. Once it stays on steady it indicates the tranny fluid is at it's operating temperature and you are then supposed to drain the tranny of the excess fluid that you originally put in.
Everything works fine except I can't get the Drive light to stay on. I first tried for 5 minutes, then again for 10 minutes and finally for 15 minutes. Does anyone know if this works for 2014 Venza's (the comment section of the video states it works for all Toyota's with a sealed transmission)?
Do you know what the operating temperature range of the tranny fluid has to be for the 2014 Venza for this to work properly?
Same as it is shown in the video.
Great, thanks for your help.
You're welcome and good luck.
