Toyota Tacoma frame recall

Hi Scotty I have a question about the Toyota Tacoma frame recall. I buy two years ago 2005 Toyota Tacoma with manual transmission with 103,567 miles. I have some holes in the frame on the driver side and the radiator support? I call the dealer yesterday and they told me they have to inspect the truck first? Any recommendations about this?

They will have to inspect it and see where the damage is and what it looks like vs other trucks they have seen. They can then advise you on whether or not you can have the frame replaced.

They have to examine the frame as they probably have specs to go by set by Toyota for replace or don't replace. My neighbor had his frame replaced on his Taco.

I own a 2005 Tacoma that had the frame replaced.  Much more than the frame gets replaced, mine came back and drove like new.  The test  they use is the "hammer test".  if the claw arm of a hammer pokes holes in the frame after smacking it, the frame fails the test.  Sounds like yours will fail

My understanding was that the time you could get the frame replaced had expired. If the owner didn't file  a claim by that dead line, you were screwed.  Maybe they changed that.

If you get it replaced, you should celebrate, your Taco will drive like new.  They also provide a rental car for you at  no charge. It took 2 months to replace it
