Scotty Google Says the 1998 and newer Toyota Corollas have timing chains and the 1997 and back have Belts is this info accurate?

Sounds like the correct timeframe the change was made... and they are/will be changing back to chain ; )
Some model/engine dates vary tho along with place of mfg. Get service manual for your particular car to know most accurate details for it.
