I have a lexus es350 how reliable is the u660e transmission? I'm hearing mixed reviews, also hard shifts from a cold start until it warms up. Any advice would be appreciated my car has 240k miles I've had the fluid changed as well. The car runs great aside from those issues.

As you said opinions on the U660E (this usually means it’s a variants of the) Aisin TM-60LS are mixed - it’s not a bulletproof transmission at all.

It tends to burn it’s friction packets, it has issues with their valve bodies and bearing quality, the teflon seals get worn out, issues with the shifter.

250k miles is impressive for one of these, the ones I’ve seen lasted way less.
Hard shifts when cold could be issues with the valve body and it also could be the friction packs beginning to slip.
