Hi, I have a 2001 VW golf GL with 300,000 miles on it's second engine with a manual transmission and I've been thinking about changing the gear oil. I know that if were an automatic and it's gone too long without a fluid change, it would start to slip most likely with a fluid change. But, I think I have seen on the internet that doing a gear oil change on a manual transmission, it will be fine. Is this true?
Only just bought this car and maybe get that 1/2 MPG gain a smoother transmission.

Yes manual transmissions can be changed at any time because they're just splash lubrication gears that have oil bouncing around inside they're nothing like an automatic
