Brake assist not working

Hi scotty, i hope this question finds you. I am an avid fan. I own 2011 chevy cruze. It has not working break assist. I tried replacing fuse but it always breaks. Aside from no break/stiff break only during cold start, there seems no problem with the breaks. Do you suggest to fix this or just go with it? Thank you.

Is it even safe for to drive it?

Are you saying that the power brake boost returns to normal after the engine warms up? Can you stop the car as safely and effectively with no boost as when the power boost is working?

Another possibility is some of those cars (mainly those with 1.4 turbo engine) have a vacuum pump to operate the brake booster. If yours is equipped with that pump it may be going bad.

There was also a recall due to a faulty microswitch:

thank you for your help, i think it is really bad. but so far no breaks problem encountered after warming up engine. do you think it is just safe to drive that way?

Not really possible to know from here since there's no way to check it out over the internet. If it negatively affects braking performance at all I would say it is not safe.

i did some research and found that during cold start (high RPM) less vacuum is in intake manifold, but when RMP starts to normalize, vacuum is good, so far, it has been good after RPM normalize, no break issues, just want to ask some advice based on experience.

That sound like the problem may be the vacuum pump. Experience tells me it is dangerous to drive a car with degraded braking performance. So if you can drive it after warmup and brakes are OK it's probably all right. I would not take it out into traffic until the power boost comes on.

If you mean there's no power assist your brake booster is probably shot.

Yeah, that is the mechanic told me but he said it would cost me at least 600-800$ in labor and parts. Is it even safe for to drive it? Breaks does normally after 1-2 mins from cold start. Thank you.
