2014 Chevy Cruze Eco 6 speed

LOL, I noticed you flashed a Chevy Cruze while you were talking about the crap they are making these days. Before I was married, I am a Toyota guy (Tercels, and Celica). I also owned a Honda Civic 1993 split hatchback. However, since my brother-in-law at the time was a GM technician, I bought into Chevy. Since I would normally, move them out before 100k, this was serving me well. However, now that I went through my family separation and the economic crisis that comes along with it, I find myself with this 2014 Chevy Cruze eco turbo 1.4 with 160,000 miles. Let me tell you, you are so right about all this plastic German parts. The check engine light has had a steady glow since 100k miles. If the rest of the car was as consistent as that engine light coming on, I would have no complaints. So I have been chasing engine codes since then. I went through the whole pcv valve mess, where you have to replace the entire plastic intake to fix it. I went through a similar thing with the plastic valve cover. The car seems to consume coolant, yet it does not end up in the oil, thank goodness. The code that it throws most recently is P2097. From reading the Cruze forums, many people rush out and replace the catalytic converter straight away, when the experience this code. However, I am not falling for it. I was wondering if you would do a show, because however unfortunate, this is a popular car. I wonder if you can share some tips on the typical stuff that goes on with this vehicle. This car is very sophisticated plastic crap. It has a solid block and powertrain but the rest is temperamental at best. The car bogs down in warm weather and throws codes, then when it gets cold, it runs perfectly. go figure....

All things considered, I am still driving this car. It really isn't a terrible car, just too sophisticated with a sensor everywhere, thus not stinkin' easy to work on and diagnose. Even the dealer doesn't put the proper time in diagnosis. I suppose I just wanted to see if you have any ideas, to spitball this, I am not against throwing some cheap plastic replacement parts at the problem in a spitball manner, since I don't need to bring it to a dealer for that.

Well what the heck you have it it runs try to keep it running as long as you can. Just realized some point in time the engine will go out and you'll just say goodbye

Hey Scotty, I’m in complete agreement with power4utoo. Would you do a few videos on this car? I was given a 2014 Chevy Cruze with 29k miles. I haven’t had any issues but I’m afraid I will. I’ve followed your advice on changing the oil, transmission fluid, etc.. to keep it in good shape. However, I’ve noticed that the oil pan seal is leaking a minuscule amount of oil and the coolant keeps disappearing.

Surely, with all your wisdom and expertise, you might have some good repair/preventative maintenance you could share with us Cruze owners?
