What do you think of the Overland Torque Tune? Vendors tune the ECU with this software which improves acceleration and most importantly recalibrates the shift points on the 3rd gen 3.5 V6 Tacomas correcting the gear hunting issue. If these things can be corrected why doesn't Toyota just do it themselves?

Personally, I'm always leery about aftermarket programming. I mean those guys that know what they're doing, but of course Toyota uses engineers and since they didn't do that, I'd be kind of leery about whether it would work and not cause early wear on the transmission
