So

- the AC works perfectly,

- the mechanic said DON'T fix it.

But you want to service it anyway... why???

Thank you for your response.... I don't necessarily want to fix it. I am wondering if there is any need for preventative maintainence.

Nope. You want to touch it as little as possible.
Maintenance is covered in your owner's manual.

The only thing you might want to service is to change the passenger cabin air filter, if the Yaris has one.

good point, Glen. And make sure the evaporator core drain is clear.

yes thank you.... I did change the cabin filter in the summer

If it's not broken don't fix it. AC systems do not require scheduled maintenance other than maybe checking the fan belt which should be checked and replaced as needed anyway.

The air conditioning should only be serviced if there is a problem. If it works fine with no issues, leave it alone.

You say AC working perfect on a 12 year old car - consider yourself fortunate.  No need to fix or service.  Only other thing I would say is what condition is your fan belt in?
