Hello I’m new here and I’m about to trade in my 2015 Nissan Altima for a 2015 Ford Taurus and I just wanted to get some feed back and see from other peoples perspective if that’s a good idea, reason I’m trading it is because I’ve heard that the cvt transmissions for the new Nissans are bad but I don’t know much about the fire Taurus….. any opinions please
I agree entirely neither those vehicles are that good I'd look for a Toyota Honda instead but I would definitely get rid of the Nissan
good idea in getting rid of that 2015 Altima since they are not good, but not a good idea to go for a Taurus. Go for a Camry or Accord (I would personally go Accord for just the entire package and value for money but go Camry if u want the longest life)
The biggest issue with those Tauruses is their internally mounted water pump. For some stupid reason, Ford's engineers thought it would be a good idea to stick a water pump behind the timing chain cover and drive it with the chain instead of mounting it on the serpentine belt like any other car. Engines and water don't go together, seems like common sense, right? You gotta replace the pump as preventative maintenance to make sure pump failure won't throw coolant into the oil pan and trash the motor.
And replacing those pumps is a partial engine out job, cost thousands. Best to avoid the Taurus altogether.
I didn't know it was that involved. Talk about planned obsolescence. I thought those were good looking cars several years ago, but I didn't buy one. I bought my Mustang instead.
Justin Shepherd is correct - main reason to avoid a Ford Taurus. You can also do a search on this Forum to see why you shouldn’t get one.
What are your other options? Camry’s and Accord’s are good but can be pricey, but you may also look at a Mazda 6 sedan.
- The Taurus is not a great vehicle either. You might want to find something else.
If your not having problems with the Nissan and you do your services I would not just get rid of the car because of other peoples say so.. if you like it then maintain it and drive it. If your not going to maintain it then get rid of it because you’ll end up the statistic and will have problems.
