Trailblazer, Lumina, G20 Van, Scotty what is a good diagnostic computer for reading codes and doing some programming. I have a 1993 G20 Chevy Van with a 5.7 V8, a 1998 Lumina with a 3.1 V6 and a 2002 Trailblazer with a 4.2 IL6. Thanks in advance.

Probably the best diagnostic tool for older GM vehicles would be a Tech2 which is what the dealers used from about the 1992 through 2013 model years. The Tech2 does not rely on OBD2 though pre-1996 models use a different diagnostic connector. Trouble is they are pretty expensive (about $400 for a Chinese-made clone) and can only be used on GM vehicles for the model years covered. Plus side is you have access to all electronic diagnostic and programming capabilities the dealers had.

What do you mean by programming?

1993 is before OBDII. You can read your van's codes with a paperclip.
