I am looking for a truck. I know Toyotas are recommended, but the price is out of my range. This will be the main family transportation. I saw a 2024 Ram 1500 55,000 miles $21000. I think it was a rental truck

If you're looking for a truck, a 2024 RAM is not the way to go, especially with that mileage and price range. Scotty always warns his viewers against anything made by Stellantis, and only buy it if you enjoy spending money and time at the mechanic.
I think it was a rental truck
That's three strikes against it. Never buy a vehicle previously used as a rental- they often don't get the best treatment. Don't walk, but RUN away from this truck. There are better options out there.
@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 Besides Toyota what other brand of truck would be a good option
Do an internet search for "2024 ram 1500 problems" and you'll have your answer.

@rwm221 I'm really not familiar with pickup trucks but from what others have said here an older F-150 with a V8 and six-speed automatic might do the trick for you. (The 10-speed automatic is horrifically bad.) You just need to avoid years with inherent problems. But all of the newer ones are pretty much crap, even the Toyota is having problems with engines self-destructing. Others here who are more familiar with the truck market may be able to give you more specific information.

None. Get an SUV. If you absolutely need a truck then buy a heavy duty (3/4 ton and up). The new half tons are trash right now.
take advice from those who know ...
same advice, just skip the half tons!

Besides Toyota what other trucks are good. I will be replacing my SUV for a truck so it will be my family vehicle as well. I don't need a heavy-duty work truck
@rwm221 You already asked about this so it has been merged with your previous topic. Please note that forum rules posted near the top of the main page prohibit posting the same question in multiple topics. Thank you.
