2010 rav4 3.5. towing a 1700lb boat. No towing package. I noticed the trani cooler is the same size as the radiator, not as thick, is this big enough to prevent over heating when towing.
It is rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds so you should be ok.
with the tow package
@timaay the V6 engine can tow up to 2,000 lbs (without the tow package) and then up to 3,500 lbs (with the tow package).

how about steering when you spin the wheel fast and the sudden stop goes clunk
It's normal for the steering wheel itself to go clunk if you are turning it fast and hit the turning limit. If you are hearing noise outside the car, that's a different story and I would check your tie rods, etc.
Why didn't my 2006 buick rainier do it, different steering systems.
Can I do something to stop it, very annoying.
Yes the rack and pinion steering systems are a little different for every car. Honestly about the only thing you can do is turn the wheel slower as there's no real fix. It just happens with age.
