2001 Chevy Astro/GMC Safari with 4L60e transmission. Disk brakes in front, drums in back. Having brake issues not bleeding possibly related, but want second opinions.

Problem:

Transmission will work just fine, but first run will not MOVE the vehicle until i first put it into Reverse, then back into Drive. Once I do that, it works fine. Checked fluid level, everything is fine. Recently did a filter kit. Wondering if bad brake issues could possibly cause this issue as well as if it's locking up moving foward until they are "released" by first going into reverse. Been having trouble bleeding all of the air out of the lines and getting the proportional value to "reset".

I tried looking around for answers or similar problems but unable to find anything like it.

Thanks!

jack the vehicle up and try to rotate the wheels. You'll know right away if it's the brakes.

Have you scanned the transmission for codes?

It may be transmission control module.

Get it diagnosed by an honest mechanic.

If it is transmission, just live with it. Not worth fixing.
