mazda 3 2.0 automatic 2016
when shifting from P to R there is a slight kick and shake when its in gear, same in D, no shake in N and P.
also when shifting there is a sound like sqeaking, squealing.
Milage? was the ATF changed?
50 K miles, fluid changed last week
Did the atf replacement effect the shifting?
Also any clue if your car has a SkyDrive or a TG-80SC (you can check that by the fluid type and amount)
(Please use @Dan so that I’ll be able to see your response…)
Then it’s probably just the engine mounts or the torque mount… go to a mechanic so he’ll check those out 👀

This image is the locations on a Mazda CX-5 but it should be similar on the Mazda3

A failure so early on a SkyDrive is unheard of.
(The typical way a SkyDrive fails is bearing whine at 150k miles and if it’s not fixed then it causes a lot of issues with the drums)
@dan
can replacing the engine mounts fix these kicks when shifting to R/D?
and shaking while in gear?
there is no shake when the car is in N/P
but when its moving to R or D it gives a little kick, sometimes sqeaks, and shaking
I really would have to see it to know, but it’s not possible.
I guess going to an independent mechanic can be a good idea… a professional can inspect it and know for sure.
When I had an engine mount issue on a Hyundai it had similar symptoms.
Check motor and transmission mounts.
does it make sense for them going bad this early??

Usually not, but you could have a bad mount, it happens. Certainly it's the simplest and least expensive possibility and should be checked first.
