There's a private owners selling his 2005 Toyota Camry for $600 it has 250,000 . The trans has a hard time going into second gear, do you thinks it's the transmission or a sensor? Would it be worth the money to buy it? I don't know much about transmission.
Cars of that age are computerized, so it's a computer telling you which gear the transmission is in. Pass, the owner most likely never changed the automatic transmission fluid and abused it. Unless you can score a remanufactured transmission by Toyota, and like gambling that there's nothing else wrong with it, that's a hard pass. He's selling it dirt cheap for a reason.
Pass on it.
The seller is just trying to get more than a junkyard will offer him for that thing. Run away.
The owner probably requested a quote for the repairs, didn't like the overall cost and wasn't offered anything for the car, now they're dumping it to the first poor soul who thinks that's a good deal.
