I am planning on doing a transmission drain and refill on a 2016 toyota rav4 with 45000 miles. Can anyone tell me about how many quarts of fluid will drain out so I know how much new fluid to buy?

just buy 3 gallon jugs and return what you don't use.

- Check your owners manual , I've.only seen how much it takes to flush it, which is ten quarts. But don't flush it

I’ve seen videos of Scotty, and over mechanics, use a huge measuring bucket to measure how much transmission fluid comes out each time you drain. You fill the exact amount back in. Repeat the process until your trans fluid is a bright cherry red.
if this is incorrect please tell me.
So if you want to do multiple times should you wait for the transmission to be cool for a bit then start again?
I don’t know. Good question to post though.
