I inherited my mother's 2010 Ford focus. I just had the oil changed at 51,000 mi and they said the transmission fluid needs to be changed. I've heard this can be problematic on older cars but since the low mileage I wasn't sure, any help

Your owner's manual says AT fluid & filter are due @ 60,000 mi
I would do it then.

Great thank you! Since that car sets for months at a time without being driven would you recommend topping it off with premium gas or just regular unleaded? Thanks again!

I don't think high octane gas is more stable.
Add a fuel stabilizer product instead, and just try to use up as much of tank as possible before putting it into storage. Then when you come back , fill up full with fresh gas.
