Hey Scotty I was wondering should the automatic transmission fluid be changed on high mileage Mitsubishi transmission 4spd (Made in japan) (it’s a F4A22 trans) Exceeding over 190,000 miles. Shifts good, fluid looks like a medium red color. If I decide to change it later on in the future when the fluid is black.

I take samples of my fluid and hold it up to the light. Then dab some on some white cardstock (like a business card) . If my ATF was still red and didn't have a lot of  black residue, or sparkly metal flakes, I wouldn't hesitate to change it.

Why did you put ATF in a glass? Please tell me you didn’t drink it.

tastes like cherry cough syrup.... j/k
It's not a glass. It's a tiny jam jar like you get at hotels.

You definitely don't want to flush it

Now, someone else could check me on this, but I think you would want to do a drain and fill, keep the old fluid, and put the old fluid back if problems occur...

Oh ok will do
