Transmission fluid change past due

<span;>Hey there,

<span;>I have a 2014 CTS-V with 80K miles.  The transmission fluid has not been changed yet.  What do you suggest I do since the car missed the mark for the first transmission fluid and filter replacement.  I'm worried that if I change the fluid and filter now that it might cause problems.  Should I just replace the filter only then go back and check the fluid level and add fluid if needed?  I'm sure it needs more fluid.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

If the fluid is not burnt and gritty you should be OK and you'll want to do it ASAP. At this point you're not ridiculously beyond the recommended service interval but you don't want to let it go too far.

You can probably change the fluid and filter now and not have any problems, but do it soon. You're not too far past the 60k mile change interval Scotty recommends. When you start hitting 100k+ miles without changing the fluid is generally when changing it can cause issues.
