2010 Avalon with Low Miles - Change the Transmission Fluid?

I just traded in my 2018 Ram 1500 for a 2010 Toyota Avalon with 40,000 miles. The maintenance records are complete. It was serviced every 6 months at the dealership regardless of miles driven. The transmission fluid and spark plugs are the only things that haven't been replaced.

Should I change the transmission fluid now, wait until it hits 50,000 miles, or is changing it at this age going to risk damaging the transmission?

You can wait till 60k miles for the ATF change. Spark plugs should be fine up to 100k miles, unless you have drivability issues.
