I have a 2003 Dodge Durango with the 545rfe transmission in it. I was going to do a fluid change on it, and I was wondering what you thought of putting valvolines Maxlife ATF in it instead of using the ATF+4. Valvoline says it surpasses ATF+4 specs but Chrysler does not allow them to recommend it because Chrysler wants you to use their product only. I’d rather use valvolines maxlife than Chrysler’s atf+4 because I trust valvoline more than I trust Chrysler. Do you you think this would do any harm to the transmission?
Many trans fluids are cross compatible ... even some that say/spec the same BUT don't work well when crossed or mixed.
Go back with same fluid that's in it to insure BEST compatibility. Yea, it probably will be fine... it's up to you if you want to try.
