Hey Scotty,
I have a 2010 Ford Expedition EL Eddie Bauer with 267000 or so miles. Automatic 6 speed transmission. Having an issue with transmission, I think? It doesn't like revving passed 3 on my tachometer. Shutters or chatters or something. No codes. Can't downshift to pass vehicles or accelerate uphill when needed because it will act up & go into a limp type mode for 10-20 seconds. Extremely annoying, if not also dangerous. It has been acting up for almost a year. Runs fine as long as I don't punch it. I'm in RI & would be excited to have you take a look, if possible. Expecting an expensive fix, but hoping to not have to replace whole system. Fluid & filter have been changed every 50000 miles or so. I have receipts from previous owner. When it started acting up, I had fluid & filter changed (was due according to previous receipts), not flushed. Couple tubes of anti-shutter put in as directed by a transmission guy. Didn't change much. Gotten mixed information from a few mechanics. Because it's such an expensive issue, I'm looking for as much info before replacing entire system. Hoping you can pin point actual problem. I've been told it could be at least 3 different things, with no guarantees. Thanks for any info. Extremely appreciative for any help.
Best regards,
Jason
PS I'll give you my phone number if you email me back & want it, so we can meet up. Also would need to know what the diagnostic charge would be if I physically brought it to you. Thanks again.
No codes.
Did you use a scanner capable of reading manufacturer-specific transmission codes as well as transmission data?

That's the expected outcome when using snake-oil "mechanic in a can/bottle" type products.

What's really needed is a transmission expert who can hook up a fancy scan tool to analyze your transmission. If near one of Scotty's locations he would likely do that. (Currently he is in Clarksville, TN and he spends part of the year in Rhode Island. See the FAQ for appointment details.) Chances are though with that mileage the transmission is just wearing out. It's probably lasted this long only due to the regular fluid changes you mentioned.

No one from here will contact you via email or phone. When posting here all contact is via this forum. As already mentioned, check the FAQ for information on making an appointment with Scotty if you're in a location where you can bring the vehicle to him.
To schedule an appointment with Scotty, send him an email at scottykilmer@gmail.com and be sure to use a subject line such as "Appointment Request" so that way he doesn't miss it.
